Reading Program Grades K - 8
We’re thrilled to share some BIG news with our school families — this year, we’re launching a brand-new reading curriculum designed to help every child grow into a confident, curious, and joyful reader! 🎉Why the Change?
Research in the Science of Reading has helped educators better understand how children learn to read. Our new curriculum is grounded in this research and gives teachers the tools they need to:
- Teach reading step-by-step, building strong foundations
- Support every student with phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
- Use real-time data to meet students where they are and help them reach grade-level goals
What Will This Look Like?
- Daily Reading Routines: Students will build strong decoding and comprehension skills through consistent, focused instruction.
- Exciting Books: Our classrooms will be filled with high-quality, diverse books that spark curiosity and reflect our students’ lives and experiences.
- K-2: Amplify CKLA 3rd Edition.
- 3- 5: SAVVAS myView Literacy 2025
- 6-8: Prentice Hall Literature Textbook 2012 and Sadlier Grammar Textbook 2014
- 6th: Tangerine and Holes
- 7th grade: The Outsiders, The Hobbit, and The Giver
- 8th grade: Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451
- Targeted Support: Teachers will use frequent check-ins to tailor lessons and help all students — whether they need a little extra help or are ready for more advanced challenges. (W.I.N.N classes K through 8, Title 1 K through 5 if a student qualifies, resource support as needed)
How You Can Support at Home:
- Read with your child daily – even just 10–15 minutes makes a huge difference.
- Ask questions about books – Who are the characters? What happened first? Why do you think that happened?
- Celebrate progress – Learning to read is a journey, and every step is worth celebrating!
Our Goal
We want every student to feel success in reading and develop a lifelong love for books. With this new curriculum, we’re turning the page to an exciting new chapter in your child’s learning — and we’re so glad you’re part of the story.
